Due to various local, state, and federal Executive Orders and Shelter in Place Orders limiting large groups sizes to slow the spread of the Coronavirus COVID-19, SFHDC is temporarily offering eHomeAmerica’s online Home Buyer Education course at a reduced cost of $75 per person (normal cost is $99 per person) until the prohibitions against large group sizes and the shelter in place orders have been lifted. Use coupon code SHELTER24 during registration to receive this discount.

If you plan to apply for a Below Market Rate (BMR) unit in San Francisco, CA or to apply for any of SF’s homeownership programs including, but not limited to DALP, BMR DALP, MCC, TND, CSLP (see MOHCD SF web site for a full list of programs https://sfmohcd.org/for-buyers), you MUST also complete the following:

  1. MOHCD Homeowner Programs Orientation – 2 hours, AND
  2. Individual Pre-Purchase Counseling appointment together with all Co-borrowers in your household – 2 hours.

Once you have completed the 2-hour MOHCD Homeowner Programs Orientation, please email us at Register@sfhdc.org to receive further instructions on how to schedule, prepare for, and submit documents needed for your individual pre-purchase counseling session.

Individual counseling appointments are scheduled on a first come first served basis and subject to availability, typically within 2 to 5 business days once we have received all of your documents.

Please be advised:

To submit an application for a BMR property in San Francisco, The Mayor’s Office of Housing (MOHCD) also requires that you obtain a pre-approval from a lender approved by MOHCD https://sfmohcd.org/lender-list AFTER you have completed all education and counseling requirements. Please allow at least 2 weeks to obtain your pre-approval from a lender approved by MOHCD. SFHDC does not have control over the lenders’ schedules, but it has been our experience that it can take up to 2 weeks to meet with a MOHCD approved lender and obtain a pre-approval. Please plan accordingly.
