In the Black Celebrates Its First Year with a Community-Centered, Lively Anniversary Party!
Last Saturday, In the Black, our innovative marketplace and hub for small Black-owned businesses, celebrated its first anniversary with an exuberant event that echoed the vibrant spirit of the Fillmore district. This milestone event not only marked a year of remarkable growth and community impact but also showcased the resilience and creativity of Black entrepreneurship.
In the Black has been a cornerstone of SFHDC’s Financial Empowerment program since its inception. This anniversary celebration highlighted one facet of our mission coming to fruition, and it’s still just beginning! Saturday’s atmosphere was filled with lively music, entrepreneurs, and community members all coming together to enjoy the remarkable space we’ve worked together to achieve.
A cake cutting ceremony at 2 pm brought an added layer of excitement, followed by raffles featuring gift cards and generous gifts from neighboring businesses.
The celebration was more than just a party; it was a reflection of the positive impact In the Black has had on the local community. By providing a platform for Black entrepreneurs to showcase their products and services, In the Black has not only promoted economic growth, but also begun to nurture a sense of pride, ownership, and belonging within the Fillmore district that many had previously felt was lost.
As we look back on a successful year, we also look forward to the continued growth and success of In the Black. This first anniversary is just the beginning of many more milestones to come, as we remain committed to uplifting and supporting Black-owned businesses in San Francisco and beyond.
