San Francisco Mayor London Breed announced on Wednesday that the city would invest $3.75 million into the Black small business community as part of the city’s $120 million Dream Keeper Initiative which launched last summer.
The investment includes funding for several economic development and recovery programs supporting Black and African American small businesses and entrepreneurs, including services such as financial and legal consultation, technical assistance, tenant advocacy, resource education and more.
It also contributes to the establishment of business “Innovation Hubs” and funding for community cultural events in historically African American neighborhoods including Bayview Hunters Point, Fillmore and Western Addition, Ocean View-Merced Heights-Ingleside (OMI), Potrero Hill and Visitacion Valley.
