SFHDC is expanding our Supportive Service Program as part of our role in the San Francisco Housing Authority/Mayor’s Office of Housing new Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) Program. RAD is a new HUD program designed to privatize and leverage investment in existing public housing. As a result of winning a competitive RFQ process, SFHDC is partnering with John Stewart Company, Related California and Ridgepoint Nonprofit Housing to renovate and operate the 440-unit cluster of existing public housing comprising Hunters Point East and West, and Westbrook Apartments, both on Hunters Point Hill. The City has designated SFHDC as the lead service provider for this RAD cluster. SFHDC staff will serve as case managers, and provide linkage to an array of quality services, as well as coordinate a variety of educational and recreational activities for these 440 households.
Through this initiative, SFHDC will build upon our long history of providing free, quality services to some of the most underserved residents in San Francisco. SFHDC’s supportive service model is designed to increase the self-sufficiency of all residents and aid them in setting and achieving personal goals. Our thorough case management and referral system will also ensure that all residents who wish to do so can address whatever barriers and challenges have been holding them back. Ultimately our goal is to combat economic inequality, and empower the residents to achieve stability and success.
